A four-story building has collapsed in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, resulting in at least 5 deaths and numerous injuries. Emergency services report potential survivors trapped under debris as 56 individuals have been rescued.

As a result of the collapse of a four-story building in the capital of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam, five people died and dozens were injured. The head of the fire service of the Pite region, Peter Matou, stated that there may still be people trapped under the rubble. The local Red Cross reported the rescue of at least 56 people.

One of the rescued recounted: "We heard a loud screeching sound, and the building began to shake. I was in a cafe when the roof collapsed. I felt a blow and found myself under the debris. Rescuers arrived after a few hours while I was still conscious."

At this moment, search and rescue operations are underway to locate and pull out possible survivors from the ruins. As local authorities report, the cause of the collapse may have been violations in the construction of the building.
